AI software was utilised to control the fall, which got under way at 5.45 PM on August 23, Wednesday, by calculating the speed and position of the lander above the moon's surface using devices including velocimeters and altimeters. The cameras on the orbiter and lander were used by the AI-enabled software to find suitable landing spots. These cameras are the Lander Hazard Detection & Avoidance Camera (LHDAC) and the Lander Position Detection Camera (LPDC).
